Hi there!I'm using WinRar 3.30 and lately, when trying to unrar multiple
files in order to regroup a main file,I get a lot of corrupt files
messages.The thing is,often,when I try again,it goes fine or I get a message
showing different files being corrupted than the ones that were supposedly
corrupted the first time.Any idea or solution to this issue. It seems to be
happening more often lately and it is annoying. Thanks for you help!

if you are getting them off IRC, or using a downloader to get the multiple
files - that is sometimes the problem. When the download breaks and restarts,
the rar gets corrupt - you need to make sure you have a good rollback on IRC,
or a downloader that joins multiparts with a strong overlap

i had that problem onces, but the rollback helped lots.

Also, try using the 'Extract Files...' option in the right click menu. When
the window shows up asking for the destination, make sure you have the 'Keep
Broken Files' option checked.

If they are true 'rar' files, you can always just click on the first rar file,
and do a 'fix archive' option - rars have limited par facilities on them.

If it's a new problem you could also have corrupted your winrar file (if it's
keygen'd or evaluation, this happens lots) so get it again and see if it still
happens.

WinACE sometimes misses some of the errors and lets it work fine when you
extract i have found in the past

(i use winrar about 800 times a day, lol - but i'm on 3.30 presently too and
this all sounds very familiar)

These files have been downloaded mostly from the newsgroups with Agent but
that is a recent problem.In the past,when I was getting corruption message,I
would usually fix the problem with the PAR files and redo the extraction
with no problem. This time, even after a PAR fix,I'm still getting error
messages, but not always for the original files that were supposedly
corrupted which is weird.I will try the solutions you talked about and
reinstall my WinRar.Thanks for the post!

Well,I followed your instructions and reinstalled WinRar but got error
messages still.I was able to extract the completed file but I worry it can
create problem in the long run when burning the program and installing it
later.I hope I can find a way to resolve this as even Quick Par didn't help
fixing the supposedly corrupted files even if PAR said they were fixed.Oh
well!

if it's a bin/cue, it won't burn if it is actually corrupt (assuming you use a
proper burner like CDR-Win or Nero - that's always a secondary check (which i
sometimes use when i get told every file is corrupt. Sometimes it is just the
packer has no idea how to use winrar really and it just says each file is
corrupt when they clearly aren't, lol

one last thought...

if like some people you unrar 20 files at the same time, that can cause issues.
Most computers/HDD's can cope with it, but occasionally they interfer with
each other. I rarely use the winrar window myself and just use the shell
options from the rightclick in explorer, i find that to be the most effecient
way - and always make sure i only do one at a time, rather than multiple (also
cuts down on defragging problems in the longrun, lol)

i think everyone pretty much covered most of th eproblems. If the images still
work though, don't panic - if other people complain in the group you're getting
it from, it's most likely the poster f-in up (happens lots in alt.bin groups)

is it related to a single poster on the newsgroup too, or are other downloaders
having the same problems? it's possible that they are corrupt when they upload.

Some stuff that's multi-part rar'd together will show as a checksum error when
un-raring, but infact, are perfectly okay and useable, so with the 'Keep
Corrupted Rars' option checked, they still work fine.

Also, make sure it's not a yEnc posting being downloaded by a client that
doesn't support them, that causes many problems too

good luck

I'm not sure if other people are having the same issue.I just realized this
issue when after getting a corruption message,I tried it again and it went
fine. Then later,I had another corruption message with another set of files
and when I tried again,I got again a corrupted message but for different
files so it got me thinking there was a problem, possibly with WinRar.But
even after reinstalling WinRar,I still get funny reporting so I don't know.I
never had this issue before a couple months ago so I will have to
experiment.Thanks for your input!

These files have been downloaded mostly from newsgroups and looked fine
after downloading them.I tried the PAR fix but I'm still getting error
messages, and it varies from time to time.Puzzling!

Any credible release will have a SFV File attached which will allow you
to check the RAR file for corruption (ISO/DVD Images) or for RIP's you
can easily verify the integrity of each zip. Do Not trust releases that
are not in there original packaging.

Well, this one doesn't apply for me as it was way under 2 GB and it is a
problem with the inconsistency of the reporting of the corrupted files that
is the issue for me,as I get a different report when trying to do the
unrar.Thanks for your reply!

Any recent version of WinRAR has np with 2 GB files (3+), 4.5GB DVD
Images are packed with WinRAR and have been for years.

Check your RAM with Memtest. If the RAM passes, reseat or replace IDE ribbon
cables. If you're overclocking, back off to stock speeds.

i also found it amusing
he may not know the cause of his particular pre-rar'd files corruption, but it
has nothing to do with his memory, ribbons or overclocking - he knows that
much, lol

You can be quite funny sometimes. That was a nice break from

If you find my post funny, you must know the cause of file corruption. Care

whiners are just annoying....
if YOU need posters to disclaim every possible post as to if it is genuine,
speculation, rumour, unresearched-bullshit, sarcasm, or clearly a joke, then
you really shouldn't be reading ANY posts....

The lynchmob do no service other than to promote how ignorant they themselves
are :-)

i think i'm supposed to make a cup of tea now - in my KETTLE !!

i also found it amusing
he may not know the cause of his particular pre-rar'd files corruption,
but it has nothing to do with his memory, ribbons or overclocking - he
knows that much, lol

Hi there!I'm using WinRar 3.30 and lately, when trying to unrar
multiple files in order to regroup a main file,I get a lot of
corrupt files messages.The thing is,often,when I try again,it goes
fine or I get a message showing different files being corrupted
than the ones that were supposedly corrupted the first time.Any
idea or solution to this issue. It seems to be happening more often
lately and it is annoying. Thanks for you help!
Check your RAM with Memtest. If the RAM passes, reseat or replace IDE
ribbon cables. If you're overclocking, back off to stock speeds.
