I've been trying to block this website:

https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/

I've added it to the Windows host file and to DDWRT Access restriction
and it still connects. Anyone have an answer?

Which program exactly?

It's kind of funny -- usually the hosts file will kill any link but
the https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/ won't be stopped. I ended up
adding Blocksite addon to Firefox -- it's stopping the site from
appearing again.

We got a call from some scam artist saying he was a Windows technician
and he wanted us to log on to this web site so he could have a look at
our computer virus problem -- LOL We reported the guy to phone
busters and the local police department. When we called the police,
we were told that a lot of these calls were being made lately.

I just checked for any traces of LOGMEIN files in the Task Manager,
Control Panel add/delete programs, and Windows registry and there were
none found. I don't think this program was ever installed on my PC.

I just wanted to block any access to the logmein website.

I understand that logmein is just an installed program, I only wanted to
block the web site from my browser. Perhaps because it is a secured
connection web site that it cannot be blocked by the host file?

Anyway, I have it blocked using a Firefox addon. I scanned my PC with
the free Kaspersky anti-virus link and it discovered no threats. I
guess this is a once shot anti-virus program that cannot have it's list
updated like MS Security Essentials. Am I correct to assume that I need
to download and install it again to get the latest definitions?
