I downloaded a program from GEEKS page, which was to remove
orphaned and useless files and was to work much faster and better.
It did such a clean job that left only Blue Screen of Dead.
The only program CD-rom would read now , is partition and formating
utility, any other disk (winsp3) (Linux live) shows "invalid disc"
sign.
Computer is HP double core, 4gig.mem , two HD 250 G.each
Cd burner and cd-dvd .
Please Help

For some reason people assume the Winnipeg groups are international
groups not local ones... What'cha gonna do...

I think I may have a handle on what the problem is. Unlike the title of
the message suggests, the author does not want to install the BSD
operating system (which after a day of work produces a pretty darned
good desktop machine). He seems to have come across a registry cleaner.
Generally these programs fall into two categories. The first is an over
aggressive program which is dangerous for newbies. The second is a
trojan which tricks the user into deleting important files. I leave it
to the readers to guess which one it was. In any event programs which
make promises like this are never good.

Looks like the OP is stuck. The quickest and safest thing for him to do
is to reinstall his whole operating system... Live and learn is the best
motto in this case.

They do newsgroups search for computer + help and guess what shows up.

Right on
Blue screen of dead appeared once and on rebout nothing ,just black
screen
I have just one question, if you try to run, say,., Ubuntu Live disk,
and the screen remains black, then there must be something wrong with
the processor or Master boot record MBR ?

Sorry for my English ,written on 15 years old laptop
Thanks

Now that can be a problem... Live disks are meant to boot from the
CD/DVD drive. If the disk worked before and no longer works then the
problem goes beyond the hard drive. As long as you didn't open up your
machine we can guess something burned out. It would be either the video
card or motherboard. Unless your video cable became unplugged somehow...
If you did open your case you can also check for loose connections
inside the box. If none of that works then I'd suggest bringing the
computer to a repair shop and see what they can do.

Don't worry. Your English isn't any worse than my French, German, or
Japanese. The key is to find someone to practise with.

Nope. The Blue screen is called BSoD. This keeps it from being confused
with the BSD Operating System.

Just out of curiosity, what was the name of the program that cleaned out
your operating system?

I remember posting to this group asking if CCleaner was safe to use and
I haven't had any problems since installing it.
