Hello

Does anyone know the what the default permissions are for Windows 7 64
Hosts file?

I was just exploring how to apply a new Host file with

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

and wanted to make sure I set things back properly.

Do you bother to flush the DNS cache and add the two Registry entries to
control the amount of time the DNS cache is saved once the Hosts file is
applied, or do you wait and see if things start to slow down first?

well I don't bother with the registry entry...basically what happens
when you apply such a big host file...when u first boot up your pc and
open a browser...it will stall for about 7-9 seconds the first
time...basically what its doing is reading the host file...once it does
this once it won't lag/stall anymore until the next time u either flush
dns or renew ip or reboot the pc
