I am trying to set up Thunderbird 3.1.5 email accounts again.

I can get my Gmail working no problems. But I cannot get my MTS or my
Hotmail accounts to send. They only receive. Is there a fix?

don't have tbird, but it should be similar to windows (live) mail/oe...

incoming server: pop3.live.com
outgoing server: smtp.live.com

incoming server username: ***@mymts.net(need to include the
@mymts.net part unlike old mts mail)

outgoing server requires authorization: checked on

outgoing server port: 587 + checked on
incoming server port: 995 + checked on

I was finally able to get things going late last night.

I needed to make further changes beyond the above instructions to my
outgoing server SMTP for the MTS and Hotmail accounts.

Had to check the use secure authentication box and select normal password.
Connection security STARTTLS setting remained the same.

When TB checks for ingoing and outgoing email first time around, it will
ask for your password and offer the option to save it.

All in all TB works pretty nice. It allows me to set up different
folders for each of my email accounts. So now I have separate inbox
folders for Gmail, Hotmail and MTS email accounts without the bother of
using rules to sort incoming email. This program also has Tabs just
like Lotus Notes. This morning I was able to link my Gmail calendar to
TB, a really nice add on!

I'm still very apprehensive about archiving my old email. I'll have to
hunt around for a simple/stupid free program.

usually for saving the old mail I just copy out the DB files

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\XXXXXX.default

I will say tho that if u have an absolute massive amount of mail (one of
my clients has like 20,000 emails)
thunderbird kinda sux for re-importing that mail
