Is there an easy way to display SRT file subtitles in WMP in Windows 7?
I used to use FFDSHOW in Windows XP but the new WMP does not work with
DirectShow filters anymore. I've Google searched and found a few
possible solutions, but they all seem to be hit and miss given the mixed
feedback or really complicated.

Yes I have -- CA actually installed it along with the operating system.

It works alright, but I find that FFDSHOW automatically positions the subtitles much better, regardless of the display size.

It amazes me that M$ added DIVX& XVID codecs to their new player, but didn't include SRT subitles.

should convert that srt to a .ass file and mux it into a mkv with the
video and audio (takes 5 seconds)...and use mpc-hc (its what anime
subbing community uses (me)...)

Not confusing to me, just thought it was of the best paragraphs ever in this

I installed MPC Home Cinema 64 and it works nice. I had the older
version running on XP before. I can auto position the subtitles to
display below the letterbox video just like FFDSHOW, works nice.
Surprising all the codecs are included now.

Have you used Subtitle Workshop in Windows 7 yet? If so, any setup issues?

I use aegisub usually since im in various subtitling groups...and we all
basically use .ass subs
btw u can load a srt in it and convert to .ass
and if u wanted to mux that into a mkv...used probably wanna use
mkvtoolsnix with the mkvmerge gui (in the install directory)

When you install AEGISUB, do you need to install any other codecs to
display the video and audio input, or are they all inclusive like MPC HC
64? I have not installed any codecs other than what is running
internally within VLC and MPC HC 64. Would I still need to install FFDSHOW?

I think it has it already...but don't quote me on that...aegis video
rendering is kinda bad anyway...when im subtitling...I usually go based
only on audio
if you try to open a video and it doesn't work...just install k-lite pack
